Billie Eilish’s boyfriend, Matthew Tyler Vorce, apologizes for racist posts
Billie Eilish is back to work, making her first appearance since apologizing for lip-syncing an anti-Asian slur.
The “Bad Guy” singer, 19, was seen leaving a photoshoot in Burbank, Calif. on Tuesday afternoon, about a month after an edited compilation video — in which she appears to mouth an offensive term featured in Tyler, the Creator’s 2011 song “Fish” — sparked backlash on the internet.
However, Eilish may have unknowingly caused more controversy with her choice of attire for the outing.
The Grammy winner wore an Erykah Badu T-shirt and matching shorts from Chinatown Market, a streetwear brand that recently vowed to change its name after being accused of cultural appropriation.
“Our name was inspired by the shops, people, and vibrance of Canal Street and Chinatown in New York but it’s not our name to use,” Chinatown Market shared in an Instagram statement in March.
“We did not do enough to consider what this name would mean to the communities in Chinatowns across the world and we need to take ownership of this mistake. It’s time to do the right thing and we are committed to being a part of the change.”

It’s the first time she’s been spotted since apologizing for mouthing along to a racial slur in a resurfaced video.

The brand has vowed to change their name and donate to AAPI causes, though they have not announced their new branding yet.
“I am appalled and embarrassed and want to barf that I ever mouthed along to that word,” Eilish, 19, said.
