Adopt A Pal: Puppies rescued from den on cold January day up for adoption

Every Monday on Adopt a Pal, Global News Morning features rescues in Manitoba to help them find forever homes.

This week, Manitoba Underdogs brings in some puppies with quite a rescue story.

Two of the adoptable dogs below, Cheerio and Captain Crunch, were rescued in the middle of a cold January day in Manitoba.

The puppies, which were in a litter, were found in a den, dug by their mother on a hillside to keep them as warm as possible. The team was able to save the whole litter of dogs.

“We’re incredibly lucky we got them,” said Manitoba Underdogs.

Cheerio is Captain Crunch’s brother, even though they don’t really show any similarities. Cheerio can be a bit timid, but is making good progress hanging out with people. Cheerio lives with other dogs and gets along with them great.

Cheerio took time to relax while visiting Global News Morning for Adopt A Pal.

Captain Crunch is four months old and is making good progress on house training. He gets along well with dogs and is doing well with other human interactions too.

Captain Crunch is looking for his new family.

Roxy is almost a year old and is great with other dogs and is friendly with other people. Roxy is also doing well with her basic training.

Roxy is looking for a forever home.

Lennon aka “Lenny” is about nine months old and loves to play, including with his foster brother. Lennon will always find a way to get some toys to keep him busy.

Lennon takes the time to get to know the surroundings of the Global News Morning set.

The rescue has currently put a freeze on intakes due the amount of vet visits that had to be made so far in March.

“In the first two weeks, we spent about $20,000 at the vet,” the rescue said.

Manitoba Underdogs is always looking for assistance for any help possible.
