Remi (Adam Rowland) has been feeling much happier lately as Bree’s (Juliet Godwin) confidence has grown. They’ve finally been able to be more open about their relationship, and with Jacob (Alex Williams) barred from contacting Bree, Remi is starting to feel that the future is bright.
However, when he gets home later, he receives alarming news from Theo (Matt Evans) and Kirby (Angelina Thomson) – a ‘blonde man’ has been looking for him.
Quickly connecting the dots, Remi realises that Jacob has returned to the Bay with complete disregard for the AVO out against him. What’s more, Bree is currently alone in her motel room, and that’s the first place Jacob would look…Remi warns Kirby and Theo that if they see the blonde man again, they need to call the police. Then he jets off, much to their bewilderment.
Remi speeds towards the motel room in a desperate bid to save Bree, but when he bursts in he realises he’s arrived too late. Bree is being restrained by Jacob, and her violent husband demands that Remi sits down. Realising he’s in a dangerous situation, Remi complies – and Jacob swiftly ties him to it.
The lovers then face a series of questions about their affair from an enraged Jacob. He informs them he’s got every right to leave with his wife – conveniently ignoring the fact there’s an AVO out against him, and Bree doesn’t want to go. But, faced with the reality that Bree and Remi love each other, Jacob feels he has no other choice and turns violent.
He takes out a hammer and smashes Remi’s bound hand with it. Remi tries to conceal his pain for Bree’s sake, but he’s in agony.
Then Jacob issues a sickening ultimatum – either Bree leaves with him now, or Remi gets what he deserves. Realising what she has to do, Bree finishes packing and prepares to leave. She does manage to get Remi some medication before the pain before she goes, but it does little to help.
Remi is left alone in the motel room, barely conscious and tied to a chair with a smashed hand. Nobody knows where he is and he’s fading fast. Will someone find him before it’s too late?
