Cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch is also known for sharing her lifestyle and gardening hacks. The cleaning influencer, whose full name is Sophie Hinchliffe, often shares gardening, cleaning and DIY content on her Instagram account which has more than 4.5 million followers. Now, fans of hers have created their own groups dedicated to sharing cleaning and gardening tips.

On one such group, Facebook user Linda Moore asked gardening enthusiasts: “Can anyone advise me on how to weed my patio please?

“I have a dog so I can’t use strong products thanks.”

Linda’s post was inundated with comments from Mrs Hinch fans with the most suggested response being to use salt or white vinegar.

Alan AndEve Williamson said: “I can vouch for salt.

“I used the de-icing salt I had available and it works perfectly.

“As long as you put a decent amount on then let the rain soak it in or use a watering can.”

Hazel Smith replied: “Today my dad told me to sprinkle salt on all the weeds and then pour water over them.

“He said they die in about two days!”

Katrina Johnson wrote: “Table salt” while Gill Tammam simply said: “Salt.”

ASDA Table Salt costs 30p, Saxa Table Salt costs £1.05 from Tesco, and Morrisons Table Salt is 25p.

Using white vinegar is also an effective method, according to Mrs Hinch fans.

Sara Gullick said: “White vinegar. Totally dog-friendly and kills the weeds well.”

Angela Beattie also said using salt is the “worst thing you can use”.

She added: “It leaches into the soil and spreads, thus killing grass and plants, not to mention bugs and insects, for months and months later.”
