Bella (Courtney Miller) has been spending a lot of time online lately, talking to a mysterious stranger called Tommy. He’s been influencing her life more and more, convincing her not to move back in with Colby (Tim Franklin) and focus on her school work instead. But her actions are starting to make others suspicious, with Willow (Sarah Roberts) being the first to start wondering what’s going on.
After Bella tells Willow that a friend suggested she doesn’t go back to Colby, Willow presumes it must be Raffy (Olivia Deeble) who convinced her and goes to confront her. But Raffy says it wasn’t her, and later has a go at Bella for having Willow believe that. But Bella says Willow must have gotten her wires crossed – her new friend is behind it, and she can introduce her to him. Raffy is shocked – Bella has a boy at home for her to meet?
Back at home, Bella opens up her laptop and messages Tommy. Raffy is disturbed to find that Bella’s new friend is a random stranger from the internet, and is immediately concerned. She tells Bella she shouldn’t be sharing personal information with a stranger online, but when she talks about ‘stranger danger’ Bella just scoffs at her.
While Bella doesn’t want a lecture, Raffy says she needs one – but Bella just sends her away. But later, when Bella is chatting to Tommy online, she remembers what Raffy said and asks him if he’s who he really says he is. But Tommy takes offence and disappears from the chat.
The next day, Raffy apologises for upsetting Bella, but Bella doesn’t believe her and says that Tommy won’t even talk to her. While this clearly rings alarm bells for Raffy, Bella simply believes she has less friends now after taking Raffy’s advice.
Tommy contacts Bella again just as she starts to give up hope, and asks if they can trust each other. Bella decides to send him a photo, but when she asks for one from him, he admits he isn’t actually a student. He’s a 25 year old teacher. Bella realises Raffy was right – she doesn’t know ‘TomCat’ at all…
