Carol, who also appears on BBC Gardeners’ World, said she has decided to make a “peace offering” with the troublesome garden visitor. The visitor she mentioned is a male pheasant who often comes into her garden to peck at her plants. As a “gesture of goodwill” Carol has decided to plant a vibrant plant that she knows the pheasant will adore.
She said: “I’ve decided to make a peace offering. A gesture of goodwill to a friend of mine.
“We’ve got a sort of love-hate relationship.
“This is Leycesteria formosa and it’s better known as pheasant berry.
“Now, this pheasant frequents our garden and pecks at things sometimes.
“Sometimes I have to chase him.”
Carol could be seen chasing the pheasant away from her garden as it eyes up her plants in another clip.
The pheasant ran away but didn’t make a sound as he left the garden.
Despite his troublesome ways, Carol said she does like to see him around the garden occasionally.

She said: “But it’s quite nice to see him around.
“Pheasants absolutely adore them [pheasant berries].
“I’m afraid people used to plant it so they could shoot the pheasants.
“Well, I’m not going to shoot him. Definitely not!
“But I do think it would be really nice to introduce this.

Tonight’s episode marks the last in her autumn gardening series.
However, Carol will be returning to Channel 5 later this month for another series of Carol Klein’s Great British Gardens.
The four-episode series will see Carol embark on another season by season tour of some of Britain’s favourite and most remarkable gardens.
Each episode will explore one garden: from the Aberglasney Gardens in West Wales to the beautiful garden and nursery of Graham and Lucy Gough at Marchants.
She will also be visiting the Beth Chatto Gardens in Essex and Llanover Gardens near Abergavenny in Wales.
Autumn Gardening with Carol Klein airs tonight at 7pm on Channel 5
