Those first few months of nausea (or maybe all nine of them — we’re sorry!) in a pregnancy can make it tough to keep any type of food down. The broth carries a major bonus in that it may help in the digestion of other foods. The gelatin found in bone broth can bind to the water in your digestive tract, making foods move through your gut more comfortably.

Soon-to-be mamas are put to the task of looking after their babies’ strength. Consuming enough nutrients is important to help the fetus grow. Bone broth is an optimal beverage choice during pregnancy because it aids the nervous system, endocrine system and brain function. We know not all celebrity endorsements are worth following. But Katy Perry publicized on her Twitter that she was drinking bone broth to help support her immune system when she was pregnant with her first child. Growing a child is tiring enough! Pregnant women do not need the extra exhaustion that comes with catching the flu or even the common cold, so it’s important to keep the immune system in tip top shape.
