We asked the BuzzFeed Community what dessert their state was known for, and the locals didn’t disappoint with sharing their delicious results!
1.Alabama: Fried peach pies.
“Alabama has to be fried peach pies.”
2.Alaska: Ice cream.
“I was born in and grew up in Alaska. At one point, we consumed more ice cream per capita than any other state. We don’t know why. We just really love ice cream.”
“Arizona: Eegees. It’s an Italian ice slush dessert that you can only get in Tucson.”
Runner up: “For Arizona, it’s cactus candies. You can find them in every gift shop here.”
4.Arkansas: Possum pie.

6.Colorado: Peach pie.

“New Mexico’s favorite dessert is sopapillas! They’re delicious, fried pillows that you eat with honey, and they taste like HEAVEN! I’ve never tasted heaven, but this is what I imagine it tastes like.”
32.New York: Cheesecake.

33.North Carolina: Sweet potato pie.
“North Carolina is known for sweet potato pie, as that’s where the majority of sweet potatoes are grown and harvested.”
34.North Dakota: Caramel rolls.
“North Dakota’s favorite dessert is caramel rolls. You may think you’ve had a good caramel roll, and you may even think they’re just a breakfast item, but you are wrong. “Rhode Island zeppoles. They’re plate-sized circles of fried dough topped with powdered or regular sugar. Lines for our popular Iggy’s Doughboy and Chowder House are wicked long, especially in the summer!”
40.South Carolina: Chess pie.
“Chess pie belongs to South Carolina!”
41.South Dakota: Kuchen.
“South Dakota’s dessert is kuchen, a sweet dough that contains a fruit or custard filling.”
42.Tennessee: Moon pies.
“Tennessee is known for moon pies.”
43.Texas: Texas sheet cake.
