Since the coronavirus lockdown began, supermarkets have been adapting their services. Morrisons has introduced a new delivery scheme to help some people who have been affected by new lockdown restrictions.
Getting home food deliveries can be vital for those who are unable to leave their homes.
With lockdown restrictions tightening across the UK, Morrisons has introduced new services.
The supermarket giant will focus on helping students who have been asked to self-isolate at home.
The doorstep delivery service will allow students to pick from five different food boxes.
Hungry students can choose from Meat Essentials, Vegetarian Essentials, Easy Meals for the Week and the Big Night In box.
The initiative will first launch at the Birley and Cambridge Halls at Manchester Met University – where around 1,500 students have been asked to self-isolate – before rolling out to other universities.
Morrisons chief executive David Potts said: “Students have asked for our help and that’s why we are making sure they can safely access affordable food at this very difficult time.
“We’re playing our full part in feeding the nation so that no one is left behind.”
Students can place their order via the email [email protected] for next day delivery.
Morrisons first launched essential food boxes in March to help shoppers get items to their doors.
Since then, boxes have been launched for a range of occasions including the Gluten Free box, the Best Meat box and the Vegan Essential box.
The retailer has now announced a new subscription service to regularly deliver boxes to shoppers.
Customers can sign up to receive weekly, fortnightly or monthly food deliveries.
Shoppers will no longer need to battle for a delivery slot as the boxes will be regularly delivered.
What’s more, customers who sign up will be treated to a discount of five percent.
The supermarket chain also offering a 20 percent discount on the first box.
”Customers use our food box service to get fresh food and cupboard essentials delivered to their doorstep quickly,” Aidan Buckley, director of Food to Order for Morrisons commented.
“We are making the service simpler and even better value to ensure everyone can get access to affordable food at this difficult time.”
