To the delight of many fans, McDonald’s is reintroducing the Chicken Big Mac to its menu from today, March 29. After listening to customers on social media over the past few months, the fast food chain has finally granted their wishes. But chicken lovers will have to be fast as the burger will be available for a limited time only.
Following its sell-out success when it first launched in February 2022, the Chicken Big Mac is returning to menus from today. The burger sold out in just 10 days last year. And I can see why.
I tried the Chicken Big Mac for the first time last week, and I was pleasantly surprised.
I have to admit, I had expected the burger to be too filling and heavy on the stomach – it is, after all, packed to the brim with ingredients.
The product consists of two crispy coated chicken patties made with 100 percent chicken breast meat, a slice of cheese, lettuce, pickles and McDonald’s Big Mac sauce.
I have never tried McDonald’s normal, beef Big Mac, so I had never tasted the Big Mac sauce. It’s hard to compare it to any other condiment: I loved it.
The Chicken Big Mac’s chicken was indeed crispy and slightly crunchy on the outside like McDonald’s describes it on its website.
And although I much prefer the chicken inside the McCrispy or the McSpicy, the meat was tender.
The lettuce was fresh, as all lettuce should be, and I really liked the cheese.

The only complaints I had is that I would have liked more cheese, and I didn’t like the pickles.
But, to be fair, it was easy enough to take out the pickles, and they didn’t affect the overall taste of the burger.
Although it was quite difficult to hold the Chicken Big Mac – its size and weight made me feel like I was eating a Scooby snack – it was lighter on the stomach than I was expecting.
It wasn’t too filling, which meant I could enjoy my chips, a refreshing Oasis drink, and a dessert too.
I’ve heard the Chicken Big Mac is similar to McDonald’s beef Big Mac, but with a twist, and so I’m now looking forward to trying the original.
What this taste test taught me is that it’s sometimes worth pushing the boat out at McDonald’s, and ordering something different to my go-to.
I am also looking forward to trying the Mighty McMuffin and the Mozzarella Dippers, which are also making a return to the McDonald’s menu from today.
Other new or returning products include the Steakhouse Stack burger and the Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry.
However, there is bad news alongside the good – as well as introducing new items to its menu, McDonald’s has also axed five products.
The Grand Big Mac, the Grand Big Mac with Bacon, Chilli Cheese bites, Galaxy Chocolate McFlurry and the Galaxy Caramel McFlurry are no longer available at McDonald’s restaurants.
However, the items may return to the fast food chain’s menu at a later date, in the same way the Chicken Big Mac has.
Available from today, the Chicken Big Mac costs £4.49 and £6.09 as a meal.
