May the force be with you — and with your choice of beverage.
In addition to the exciting assortment of Star Wars-themed food and beverages that guests will get to enjoy at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge — a themed land opening on May 31, 2019, at Disneyland in California, and August 29, 2019, at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida — Coca-Cola has just announced that they’ve created something special for the new land in collaboration with Disney.
To complete the immersion experience, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge guests will be able to enjoy custom bottles of Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Sprite and Dasani.
Each beverage has a rounded design, resealable caps, and features its logo replicated in Aurebesh, the written language featured in the popular film franchise.
“When we first approached Coca-Cola and shared the idea of bringing their products into the Star Wars galaxy in a new and unique way, they immediately saw the opportunity to give our guests the refreshing drinks they love in a way that maintained the authenticity of the story – which is very important to us – and that was, frankly, just plain cool,” said Scott Trowbridge, portfolio creative executive and studio leader, Walt Disney Imagineering, in a press release.
Of course, finding the perfect design wasn’t easy.
According to the press release, Coca-Cola Design began creating prototypes over three years ago, collaborating with Walt Disney Imagineering and Lucasfilm Ltd. in the process.
“We started with a blank piece of paper and ideated and iterated with Walt Disney Imagineering on what Coca-Cola products and packaging would look like in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge,” said Ellen Gutierrez, director of strategic partnerships and brand marketing, Coca-Cola. “We think fans of both Star Wars and Coca-Cola will love what we came up with together.”
Not only is Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge the largest single-themed land ever created in a Disney park, but it’s also set to be a gastronomic paradise, with a menu full of Star Wars-themed food and beverages that will tantalize fans and foodies alike.
Three hot spots will exist within the new land for grabbing grub: Black Spire Outpost market (found on the Planet Batuu), where guests will encounter aliens, droids and other familiar faces while searching for food and other goodies; Oga’s Cantina, where DJ R-3X, a former pilot droid, spins tunes for the crowd while they sip exotic beverages; and Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, the “designated location for traveling food shuttles.”
No matter how many light saber battles you engage in, there’s no way you’re leaving hungry — or thirsty.
