If you had a lockdown birthday in 2020 and are determined to make up for it this year, Asda has something truly unique that’s bound to catch your attention.
The supermarket is selling a birthday cake that resembles a fast food favourite – a bucket of fried chicken.
While it might look savoury, the chicken nugget cake is most definitely for sweet tooths.
It’s made with soft Madeira sponge, layered with sweet raspberry jam and coated in Speculoos Biscuit Crumb – to give the effect of a crunchy coating.
There’s even ‘ketchup’ (more raspberry jam) drizzled on top – to make it look more realistic.
The edible masterpiece also comes with a decorative cardboard wrap-around – which gives the impression of a fast food bucket.
This sweet treat is available in store and online now for £12 and there’s plenty to go around, as each cake serves 20 people in total – which works out at just 60p per slice.
Asda says on its website: ‘If you want to revolutionise what it means to wow your guests, the fried chicken style biscuit crumb and nuggets of mouth-watering cake atop the Birthday Bucket will blow every chicken lover’s mind.’
Facebook page Money Saver Online shared some photos of the chicken nugget cake – and it’s safe to say that people have been going wild for the unusual creation.
One person wrote: ‘That looks clucking delicious.’
While another said: ‘I want to be in a relationship with this.’
However, others are a little unsure.
Someone else replied: ‘I can’t figure out whether it looks nice or wrong.’
Another person added: ‘This hurts my head. Looks like chicken but tastes like cake?’
If the poultry-themed cake isn’t your thing, Asda also has some other wacky designs, such as the Ginny the Guinea Pig Cake, a Cheeky Monkey Cake and even an Inside-Out Leopard Print Cake.
