As part of a campaign called #CaloriesUncovered, Graeme has been showing how to slash the calories in the UK's favourite dishes with a few very simple swaps.
The main calorie cut involves swapping from liquid oils to oil sprays – which can reduce the calorie content dramatically.
Other simple hacks include using chicken sausages instead of pork ones, and opting for reduced fat mincemeat.
Bangers & Mash – save 446 calories
Swap pork sausages for chicken sausages, cream and potatoes for mashed carrot, swede, parsnips and 0 per cent fat Greek yoghurt. Swap butter and garlic for one spray of Frylight garlic oil spray.
Shepherd's Pie – save 356 calories
Swap olive oil for 10 sprays of Frylight olive oil, 20 per cent fat lamb mince for 10 per cent fat lamb mince, and butter for 10 sprays of Fryliht butter spray in the mashed potatoes.
Fry up – save 421 calories
Swap oil for 20 sprays of Frylight olive oil, pork sausages for chicken sausages, bacon rashers for bacon medallions.
Fish & chips – save 417 calories
Swap deep fried oils for 20 sprays of Frylight olive oil
Chicken Tikka Masala – save 148 calories
Swap sunflower oil for Frylight sunflower oil spray, and cream for more masala paste
How to make low-cal Chicken Tikka Masala
150g chopped chicken
10 sprays Frylight sunflower oil spray
4 tbsp masala paste
100g tomato paste
1/2 red onion
3 cloves garlic
5 chopped cherry tomatoes
1/2 red pepper
125g cooked basmati rice
- Add oil spray to unheated pan. Bring to medium heat before adding chicken and cook for 5 mins
- Reduce heat before adding masala paste, crushed garlic, red onion, cherry tomatoes, basil, red pepper and tomato passata paste. Simmer for 10-15 mins.
- Re-heat 125g microwaveable rice and serve with the curry.

Chicken stir fry – save 72 calories
Use 150g chopped chicken breast, 20ml soy sauce and a load of veg. The calorie saving = 10g coconut oil for 10 sprays of Frylight coconut oil.
Chilli con Carne – save 288 calories
Swap 20 per cent fat beef mince for 5 per cent, and rapeseed oil for 10 sprays of Frylight rapeseed oil
Spaghetti Bolognese – save 288 calories
Swap 20 per cent beef mince for 5 per cent, and olive oil for 10 sprays of Frylight olive oil
