A WOMAN revealed how she transformed her ‘90s’ kitchen for less than £150 by painting her cabinets and worktops and scouring Amazon for bargains.
Re-doing a kitchen can be a costly job, with specialist materials usually needed.
But one woman has revealed how she managed to revamp hers on a budget.
She shared snaps of her kitchen to Facebook group Extreme Budget DIY & Life Hacks, where she revealed a very tired, drab décor.
It was described as something from the ‘90s’, with dark wooden cabinets and multi-coloured tiles.
She managed to bring it into the modern era by giving it a lick of fresh, light paint, and ditching her dated décor.
Describing how she achieved the look, she said: “Finally completed my kitchen.
“Total cost under £150.
“New kitchen tap from Amazon for £25. Cost of fitting £25.”
She went for dove grey paint on her cabinets, adding: “3 coats. Used brushes. No sanding or priming.”
On her dark tiles she went with antique cream tile paint, slapping on four coats.
And finally she finished off her walls with two coats of paint.
In total she used shades Overtly Olive, Dulux Chic Shadow, Dove Grey, Antique Cream and plain white.
People are praising her handiwork online, with one person saying: “You've just made my mind up, I was looking for something to cover my cupboards thank you.”
Someone else commented: “I was like ‘why did you change it? It's a lovely kitchen!’
“Then I saw the before picture. Looks lovely now.”
While a third said: “It was stuck in the 90s before or whenever darker wood was fashionable!”
And this thrifty woman revamped her cracked black leather sofa by painting it.
Meanwhile this mum spruced up her sofa for just £26 using covers off eBay.
Plus this woman transformed her entire kitchen using only products from Poundland.
