Timex's Newest Marlin Automatic California is the Epitome of West Coast Cool

This season, notable wristwatch imprint Timex has spruced up two iterations of its ever-classic 1960’s Marlin silhouette with a California dial — an indice on the watch face that features Arabic numerals from 4:00 to 8:00, Roman numerals from 9:00 to 3:00 and either an arrow or a triangle at noon depending on the manufacturer.

The two-piece set fittingly entitled the “Marlin Automatic California” pack gravitates towards a neutral and minimal color palette that’s built for versatility. The first rendition in this capsule is one of brighter tones as it sports a white face, a stainless steel finished case that’s connected on either end by a brown leather strap and stark black numbers. Its release sibling skews towards the darker side of the color wheel as its face and straps both arrive with jet black paint jobs while its numerals, hands and case are swathed in regal rose gold skins.

Each are sized with a 40mm case, and come packaged with a domed vintage-inspired crystal and a 21-jewel automatic movement that is powered from the wearer’s natural movement of the wrist.

The pieces are now available on Timex’s online store, both of which are priced at $250 USD a piece.

In recent memory, the American watch manufacturer also made headlines for reissuing its Marmont 1975.
