Shoppers divided over leggings that show part of your bum

When purchasing leggings, one must always check the level of transparency. You want support and cover, but comfort is key and exposure is often not the intention.

However, a pair of leggings from Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty range has left shoppers divided and confused because it seems, in this case, exposure is the purpose.

The leggings, which come in lilac, appear to be a standard design from the front but the back is a different story.

Otherwise known as the ‘soft mesh open-back crotchless leggings,’ the item features a strappy lace trim opening that will make top of your bum visible.

The leggings came under the spotlight following a viral TikTok that didn’t quite understand the point of the garment.

User @fathermarge shared her thoughts in a video that has now been viewed over 3.3 million times.

‘OK so I was on Fabletics to see this month’s outfits because I had a credit to use…ummm…can someone at Fabletics tell me what this is?’ she said. ‘Things are getting a little bit crazy.’

Those in the comments were equally confused.

‘That can’t be real,’ wrote one viewer.

‘How are these a thing,’ added another.

Nevertheless, some were impressed by the design.

‘It’s a vent. It’s called fashion sweeties. Look it up,’ replied one sassy follower.

‘No way. I need that,’ proclaimed another.

The original poster later confirmed that the original video was a joke and the reference to Fabletics was made in jest.

And as the leggings are from the Savage X Fenty range – which produces lingerie – it’s clear they are for at-home lounging purposes and not for gym or outdoor use.

The description says: ‘For the cozy night in. Our Soft Mesh Open-Back Crotchless Legging features sheer soft mesh fabric that provides a comfortable fit and an open strappy back for a playful surprise.’

The leggings now retail at $49.99 (£35) or $19.98 (£14) for VIP members and can be purchased here.
