A MUM whose family trip to Lapland was cancelled at the last minute decided to create a Winter Wonderland in their living room instead.
Gemma Smith was heartbroken when their dream holiday to Finland had to be cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions.
Rather than see her kids, Evie three, and Charlie one, miss out, the mum decided to ‘bring the North Pole’ to them, and used white bedsheets and twinkling fairy lights to create a magical scene.
Gemma and partner Ian, set up two tee-pees with beds, faux snowballs, Christmas decorations, a hot chocolate station and an Elf on the Shelf.
The mum-of-two shared snaps of her kids enjoying their makeshift grotto to Facebook group to Family Lockdown Tips & Ideas, where more than 1,500 people like the post.
Gemma said: “We were supposed to be headed off to Lapland UK tomorrow but instead we are in tier 3 so staying home. I decided to bring the North Pole to us.
“Snowball fights, sweet treats and hot chocolate!”
