McDonald’s worker lifts the lid on the secret behind their onions – and it's left fast food fans nauseous

MCDONALD’S fans know their burgers inside out and you can be guaranteed to bite into an identical Big Mac whether you’re in Lewes or Leeds. 

Now one worker at the fast food restaurant has revealed exactly where their signature onions come from – but it's left fans nauseated.

Tik Tok user austin.martinn shared a behind-the-scenes clip showing how the chain prepares the vegetable, which arrives pre-sliced.

The clip shows the worker with a giant bag of dehydrated onions, which makes up to 385 servings. 

They tip the contents into a massive tub in the sink, then fill it up with cold water from the tap. 

After leaving it to soak for an hour to rehydrate, the worker gets rid of anyexcess water and the onions are ready to go. 

The giant tub is then portioned into smaller shakers, ready to be sprinkled onto burgers. 

The clip has been viewed more than 18,000 times and TikTok user Justin Albert also shared a video documenting the same process in his chain.

"I don't even eat McDonald's but I'm still nauseous from seeing this," one user wrote.

Another added: "They can't even cut up their own onions!"

While this unimpressed worker wrote: “& here I am at Subway, CRYING, slicing onions at 6am!!!”

While a third wrote: “Idc they’re delicious. I use dehydrated onions when I’m too lazy to chop at home so.” 

This person thought: “Did not know onions could be dried like that. That’s crazy.”
