Are you bored of your briefs?
A new creative workshop is on hand to give your underwear drawer an adorable update.
Ethical underwear brand Miss Crofton is launching a series of events at Hackney Downs Studios – so you can make your very own knickers and bras.
These three-hour-long classes will be a great opportunity for beginners to get to grips with materials and stitching, as they’ll be taught how to cut and sew briefs and bras by brand founder Georgia Campbell.
Those attending can choose their fabric – which is sustainably sourced from local end-of-roll materials – and then can add elastic and trims. They’ll also be given their own machine to work on.
At the end of the day everyone will be able to take home the set of underwear they’ve produced – and the idea is that they will have learnt the skills to repeat the process at home.
For those not clued-up on the brand, Miss Crofton is an independent business that prides itself on making sexy and sassy underwear, including delicate chiffon and cotton broderie sets – all crafted in London.
Georgia Campbell says: ‘After so many years of producing these pieces, it gives me great pleasure to share the skills and show others the joy of it.
‘It’s so lovely seeing someone who’s never even sewn before making a pair. There’s something very satisfying about the process of creating them.’
Classes are running on selected dates over the coming weeks – Wednesday July 21, Sunday August 8 and Wednesday August 25.
It’s also an incredibly intimate affair, with only three students per session – to ensure they get the teaching they need.
Tickets cost £150 for the workshop, which seems worth it for learning such a valuable life skill.
