Infamous hairdo makes epic return – with Scots topping the list of Brits getting the cut | The Sun

SCOTS are going mullet-mad – with one-in-nine now having the throwback hair-do.

Analysing stats from 100 hairdressers and barbers across the UK, researchers found that we were top of the ‘Mullet League’.

With 5.5million of us, that means just over 600,000 have mullets – either full mullets like ex-Celtic ace Charlie Nicholas used to sport – or mini-mullets like TV star Paul Mescal and Emma Corrin, who played Princess Di in The Crown.

In just the last 30 days, the number of folk getting the distinctive hair-do – made famous by the likes of footie star Chris Waddle and TV legend David Hasselhoff – has soared around Britain.

But no more so than in Scotland where rugby fans have been copying heroes such as Hamish Watson – who until recently enjoyed the short at the sides and long at the back look.

In June, just one of every 25 haircuts in the UK were mullets, but that now stands at one-in-13 across the UK.

The hair style is worn by a range of celebs, with fans including Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Dua Lipa and Cara Delevingne.

Among the famous blokes – who either have mullets now or have sported them in the past – include Joe Exotic, golfer Cameron Smith, David Bowie, DJ Pat Sharp, Patrick Swayze, and Sir Rod Stewart.

The ‘King’ of mullets is often topped by Jean-Claude Van Damme, who sporting a ‘mega mullet’ in the 1993 movie Hard Target.

Researchers at designer fashion store ThreadSpy also found that TikTok searches for the distinctive hair-do have exploded in the past month.
