I'm a female crane operator – I want to normalize women in construction, it’s empowering | The Sun

A WOMAN has high hopes her towering achievement will inspire others.

She wants other young women to follow her into the construction industry.

But she is no bricklayer, carpenter, or plumber.

This young lady has opted instead for a job that has her head in the clouds all day.

The clue is in her name.

TikToker Kelsea calls herself, Thatcranegirl (@kelsealeighxx) and she is a crane operator.

She describes herself on her platform as a "Mobile crane operator. Modified car girl."

But she doesn't look like a conventional member of a rig team.

She wears standard work gear of a hi-vis jacket and trousers and a safety helmet.

But that's where the similarity ends.

She adds some glamour with her long red hair.

This young woman, hailing from Flintshire in Wales, is also a trailblazer because there are very few like her working as crane drivers.

Therefore, this construction worker has a serious message she wants to convey.

In her video, she demonstrated a typical week in her life at the controls of a crane.

"Another day, another dollar," she said.

She hoped her example would encourage others to follow her lead and take up work in her industry.

"Normalise women in construction," she urged.

She concluded her post with more affirmations: "Girl power. Women empowerment."
