Grace Kelly beats Meghan Markle & Kate Middleton in engagement ring battle with £29m jewel

Kate Middleton shows off engagement ring in 2010 interview

Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, 39, were given stunning engagement rings before they married into the Royal Family. While both jewels could fetch a fortune, Grace Kelly’s ring was worth much more, a study revealed.

The research, carried out by jewellerybox, analysed a number of iconic celebrity engagement rings.

It considered how much the jewels would be worth now, with the rate of inflation taken into consideration.

Topping the list of most expensive rings was the one which belonged to the Princess of Monaco, Grace Kelly.

Originally valued at £3,045,000, the study suggested it could be worth a staggering £29,260,241 today.

The jewel was followed by Jackie Kennedy Onassis, whose ring from Aristotle Onassis was estimated to be worth £14,645,860, and Mariah Carey and her £8,167,645 diamond from James Packer.

While Kate and Meghan missed out on a spot in the top 10, their wedding rings were still given a huge valuation.

The Duchess of Cambridge’s sapphire and diamond ring from Prince William was valued at more than £400,000.

Meghan’s bespoke jewel from Prince Harry was given a hefty price tag of around £167,000.

“It features a 12-carat oval sapphire set in 18k white gold, surrounded by 14 solitaire diamonds.”

Meghan was given a trilogy ring designed by Prince Harry which featured diamonds from Princess Diana’s collection.

The piece was redesigned after their wedding and the gold band was replaced by a delicate diamond-studded band.
