High heels may make an outfit, but they can also be a royal pain in the backside.
There’s bunions to think about, blisters, joint pain, callouses, damage to your Achilles tendon – the list is pretty comprehensive.
There are other, more niche risks to wearing a fierce pair of stilettos too.
Tia-Rae, found this out recently. The 20-year-old Londoner was on a night out when disaster struck.
After leaping out of her taxi at the end of a night out, Tia-Rae got both heels firmly stuck in a drain grate.
Posting about the mishap on Twitter , she explained: "So basically I jumped out of the cab to walk inside my house and then I felt like one of my feet were stuck but didn’t know what on, so I stood straight like the t**t I am.
What’s a girl to do?
"The next thing I know both feet are stuck, so I move one foot then the whole thing just comes off.
"But I couldn’t leave my shoes outside and I really was in stitches so I couldn’t even find the strength to deal with it at this time so I had to just bring it inside for my mum to deal with."
So what happened to her shoes?
Tia-Rae later shared an update, posting a picture revealing their fate with the caption:
"Nah, I dunno if I’m mad drunk or this is actually real but I’m crying."
Plenty of people have empathised with Tia-Rae’s plight.
We like to think Tia-Rae has learnt from this, but you can’t underestimate the allure of a killer pair of high heels.
