This award show season, Lady Gaga has been everywhere because of her knockout performance in A Star Is Born. If you’ve been paying attention, you have seen her fiancé, Christian Carino, with her pretty much every step of the way. But who is Christian Carino? His name might not be familiar to you, but he’s accustomed to the inner workings of Hollywood since he’s also in the business. Carino is also OK with taking a step back to let his lady take the spotlight.
Carino is proving to be not only a strong system of support for Gaga, but also one of her biggest professional cheerleaders. Here’s the inside scoop on all the things you need to know about Gaga’s husband-to-be.
1. He’s in the business
Carino works as a commercial endorsements agent for Creative Artists Agency, one of the top talent agencies in Los Angeles. Of course, Lady Gaga is one of his A-list clients, but he also represents heavy-hitters like Johnny Depp, Vanessa Hudgens, Keira Knightley, Neil Patrick Harris, Renée Zellweger and Julianne Moore — and that’s only a partial list.
2. He’s a fan too
Carino not only loves working with her, but it’s also clear he’s a fan of her talent. If you take a look at his Instagram page, it’s essentially a Lady Gaga tribute account. Sometimes, it’s hard to know where the fanboy begins and ends, but at least Gaga knows he’s devoted to being her main squeeze.
3. He’s a dad
Carino was married to Brooke Baldwin from 1997 until 2015, when the couple divorced. They had two daughters, Isabella, 18, and Lola, 17. They are sometimes featured in their famous father’s social media posts, but not much else is known about them. Um, can you imagine Lady Gaga being your stepmother?
4. He got inked
Showing his commitment to his fiancée, Carino got a tattoo of Gaga on his bicep. He added to the artwork in July 2018 by getting two birds soaring near his Gaga ink.
“A little added protection courtesy of my friend, Bang,” he wrote in the caption.
5. He’s stays private
No one knows the exact date Carino and Gaga got engaged since that was a private moment between Gaga and Carino. He didn’t do a major public proposal, so he certainly knows how to keep special moments a hidden secret.
While the engagement reportedly happened in summer 2017, Gaga didn’t confirm it until October 2018 at Elle’s 25th Annual Women in Hollywood Celebration, where she called Carino her “fiancé.” All the Little Monsters went into a major social media frenzy over the exciting news.
6. He gives fans a glimpse at Gaga’s life
Carino may be private when it comes to life’s major moments, but he knows how to give her fans a little taste of their life behind the scenes. He shared a photo on his Instagram page the morning after the Golden Globes.
Gaga was in bed with her hair still up from the night before, but her hand covers her joyful face. She’s clutching her Golden Globe and eating a bowl of Fruity Pebbles. Not only is the box of cereal in bed with her, we even catch a glimpse of that rumored $400,000 engagement ring. Wow!
7. He’s her plus-one
The award show season is long, especially if you are nominated. The studios have a lot of expectations for the nominees to campaign for the awards and the movie. Carino has been there every step of the way. He was with her when the film launched at the Venice Film Festival last August, and we can expect to see him supporting Gaga at the Oscars.
8. He’s been linked to another celebrity
Carino previously dated The Walking Dead star Lauren Cohan.
9. He’s close with his family
Carino’s Instagram page doesn’t just feature Lady Gaga and his daughters; his 101-year-old grandfather makes an appearance from time to time. It shows how important family is to him, and hopefully, Carino has that same long lifeline as Grandpa Lou!
We will find out if Lady Gaga picks up a best actress victory at the Oscars on Feb. 24, but you can bet Carino will be by her side whether she wins or loses.
