Tom Daley shared a wholesome first look of his newborn baby in a family photo.
The 28-year-old Olympic diver and his husband Dustin Lance Black, 48, announced their joyous news on Wednesday.
The happy couple’s latest addition was shared in The Times with a statement that announced their second son, Phoenix Rose, was born on March 28 via surrogate.
In his latest Instagram post, Tom shared two snaps of him cuddling Phoenix Rose, and the proud parents beaming at their other little one Robert Ray.
‘PHOENIX ROSE BLACK-DALEY,’ he penned.
‘Our family has grown in the last week, we welcomed Phoenix to the world on 28/03/23 and he’s just perfect 🧡 Robbie is loving being a BIG BRO!’
Fans and celebrities rushed to congratulate the pair on their bundle of joy.
Track and field athlete Jazmin Sawyers wrote: ‘CONGRATULATIONS!! Really happy for you all for your new life as a family of 4!’
Diver and former I’m A Celeb star Matty Lee added: ‘Can’t wait to meet him! Love you all ❤️’
The Olympian revealed they had decided to use an American surrogate because surrogates and parents were not afforded the same legal rights as they were in the U.S.
He explained at the time: ‘We looked into it in the UK and in the US.
‘In the UK it’s a lot more complicated because surrogates aren’t as well protected legally, intended parents aren’t protected legally, it’s just not safe, there’s a lot of hurdles to have to jump over.
‘In the US, everything is regulated in a way that keeps everyone safe and in the US the surrogacy process is a lot more streamlined.’
The star also shared that he and his husband were keen to have a child together to carry on their lineage after both experienced losing loved ones.
He told Giovanna Fletcher on her Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast in May 2022: ‘Lance and I […] had lost so many people in our families and there was something about surrogacy that we were drawn to that just meant that we could pass on the people that we’d lost, their genes and their thoughts, their feelings, their personalities and being able to bring someone into the world, that felt so extremely special.’
