When it comes to cozy winter garments, Oi Polloi really comes into its own. Whether it’s resurrecting the Ice Cap jacket with Berghaus or dropping its own collection of heavyweight Aran knits, the Manchester-based imprint knows what’s what.
For Fall/Winter 2021, the retailer is building on last year’s mohair cardigan capsule with Lyle & Scott, by reuniting with the Scottish knitwear brand for a second capsule dubbed: “Mohair for the People Part II”.
Centered around the same recipe as last year, the two brands have dressed a trio of knitted cardigans in palettes of“Warm Slate”, “Bay Blue” and “Pale Mist”, as well as three button-up Argyle cardigans, which were often referred to as “rudeboy cardigans”.
“Rudeboys in the late 60s, all the way through to 80s and 90s would wear these types of cardigans all the time,” explains Oi Polloi co-founder Steve Sanderson. “We thought we’d do one and make it out of mohair – make it lux. I remember the ones these chaps used to wear looking sharp, but they’d always be made from a really cheap, electric shock-type of acrylic. We wanted to take this time-honoured style and do it justice with high-quality fabrics, as well as some pretty killer colours.”
The Oi Polloi x Lyle & Scott FW21 capsule is set to drop on December 10, 10am GMT, via the Oi Polloi webstore.
