Nivada Grenchen Reissues the Chronoking “Paul Newman” With an Orange Dial

Nivada Grenchen has reissued its Chronoking “Paul Newman” as a new meca-quartz hybrid model.

Outfitted in an iconic orange-hued dial, the reissued timepiece draws inspiration from a vintage 1970s Chronoking that starred Paul Newman-style subdials. Swapping the original tonneau case for a rounder, more compact 38mm stainless steel one, the new Chronoking is complete with an aluminum unidirectional rotating bezel and three pushers on its side.

The original Valjoux 72 caliber has also been upgraded to a modern Seiko VK64 meca-quartz movement, equipped with hours, minutes, seconds, chronograph, and tachymeter functions. Echoing the color schemes, the new chronograph is paired with an understated black rally racing strap composed of leather.

The new Chronoking “Paul Newman” Orange time-teller retails for $479 USD and is only available via a five-week pre-order window via the watchmaker’s official website. The watch is expected to be dispatched sometime in September and October, those who are interested can place an order anytime from now until August 31.
