The Dunk Low is crafted for Lyle Thompson — pro lacrosse player for the Cannons Lacrosse Club. As a proud member of the Onondaga Nation, Thompson applies braided details on the borders of the side Swooshes which nod to the customary hairstyles found among his siblings. Uppers are dominated by a rich purple hue inspired by the Iroquois Confederacy Flag.
Next on the roster is the Kyrie Low 4 made for the Nets’ All-Star floor general. Honoring his association with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, the kicks come prepared with an off-white upper that features multi-colored stitchings influenced by a star quilt that he received during his naming ceremony.
Last but not least, the Air Zoom Type is engineered for professional volleyball player Lauren Schad who is a member of the Cheyenne River Lakota Nation. While her kicks are predominantly mixed between black and white, they feature intricate accents around the Swooshes that are symbolic of the medicine wheel — a cultural Lakota insignia that represents balance and the four directions.
Each of these kicks, alongside the apparel items will be dropping on June 21 via Nike in the US and Canada.
In case you missed it, Virgil Abloh’s “The 50” Dunk collection has officially been announced.
