Nowadays it’s rare to still have a landline telephone.
Most people don’t need the outdated device as they can whip out a smartphone and be facetiming their nearest and dearest in a matter of seconds.
But you’ll still find the odd landline in homes around the world – but is there something sinister lurking inside them?
It may sound odd, but one man has revealed how he discovered dozens of cockroaches hiding inside a phone in a home in Australia.
The unnamed man was working at a property in Sydney and decided to take a closer look at a dirty and broken phone attached to the wall.
Upon inspection, he was shocked to find dozens of dead cockroaches inside the phone, among the wiring.
He decided to share a video of the bizarre discovery on Facebook where it has been viewed by many.
Alongside the footage he wrote: "I took this video while at work at a property in Sydney and thought maybe I should see what’s in there as it looked dirty and was not working."
Several people saw the funny side of the disturbing video, with one viewer joking: "I think your phone has been bugged."
Another commented: "What’s the matter… bugs got your tongue?"
A third simply said that it was "disgusting".
"At least they are dead," added a fourth person.
Should you ever find yourself in a similar position, there are various ways you can banish unwelcome pests in your home.
The best and easiest way is to hire a professional to exterminate them, but if you don’t want to spend money, you might want to try cutting off their food supply, destroying their hiding places, using sprays or bait, giving your house a thorough clean and sealing up entry points to ensure the critters no longer have access to your home.
