Lexus Brings Back the V8 for Its 2022 IS 500 F Sport Performance Sedan

Lexus has finally brought back the V8 engine for the first time since 2014 for its luxury sedans, installing it into its upcoming 2022 IS 500 F Sport Performance.

The engine upgrade comes in the form of a 5.0-liter V8 previously used by Lexus’ very own RC F series. It’s capable of generating 472 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque through an eight-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels, with a limited slip differential to make it a true performance model.

As for its interior, while Lexus hasn’t changed things too significantly, the new IS 500 F Sport Performance will still carry many of the more modern features found in the automaker’s range of base sedans, including a completely revamped infotainment system.

There’s currently no pricing information for the 2022 IS 500 F Sport Performance sedan, but Lexus says it’ll be arriving at dealerships later this fall.

Elsewhere in the automotive world, Porsche has teased the Taycan Cross Turismo.
