Blissfully titled “Poetry in Motion”, Lanvin launches its menswear capsule collection that brings its famous Curb sneaker into focus.
The latest menswear capsule by creative director Bruno Sialelli takes notes from the “urban adventurers” of California – particularly its cool and carefree skateboard scene. Channeling the wild images of Hugh Holland’s 70s skate photography, the relaxed collection considers ultimate movement and a definitive skater style in its design codes.
The line imbues street cool as it adopts classic skater fits, such as flannel shirts to baggy pants, and elevates them with luxe materials of silk, merino wool and virgin wool. A staple denim jacket and jean – and bucket hat for more daring wearers – are also given a luxury treatment as they are coated with the Lanvin monogram print.
The brand incorporates skate slacks, denim jeans, baggy sweatpants and even a too-cool-to-get dressed pajama set into the capsule covering all bases in the pants offering. More casual items such as T-shirts, hoodies and short sleeve shirts also make their way to the collection, directly referencing skate culture with images of boarders printed onto them.
While other Lanvin sneakers are styled with the collection, it’s the Lanvin Curb sneaker that plays the starring role. The sneaker’s chunky, chevron laces feature in the drawstrings of hoodies, on pant waistbands and bag straps, tying the collection together with its bright pops of color.
Hailing from the French skate scene, photographer Djiby Kebe captures the capsule collection in a casual editorial with his fellow boarders as the models. Take a closer look in the gallery above.
