Elon Musk Changes Twitter Profile Picture to Bored Ape Yacht Club Collage

Amidst the news surrounding his $44 Billion USD Twitter buyout, Elon Musk briefly took a stab at the leading NFT collection, Bored Ape Yacht Club, changing his Twitter profile picture to a collage of the Bored Ape NFTs for a day. Musk has a history of voicing his opinion about the Web3 space, with previous posts causing the price of bitcoin and dogecoin to skyrocket.

With an established position as one of the biggest players in the space with collaborations with adidas, CASETiFY, and SUPERPLASTIC, BAYC recently took the spotlight once again with the launch of its “Otherside” metaverse last week which now has an estimated market cap of $2.6 billion USD worth of ETH at the time of writing according to CoinMarketCap.

“I dunno… seems kinda fungible,” writes Musk with millions of dollars worth of screenshotted NFTs displayed on his profile picture. However, contrary to the connotations behind his comment, BAYC and other related collections from Yuga Labs saw a steep price increase following his post.

Elsewhere, a Beta version of Coinbase’s NFT marketplace hits $100K USD in daily sales.
