The film’s heroine Elle is a wealthy, attractive fashion merchandising student before she changes to law. Kim is wealthy and attractive with more than a passing interest in fashion.
Just like Elle, she has the brains and drive too – but better than Elle, Kim grew up with a lawyer father, and she’s not going into law to win back an ex-boyfriend, but because she’s thought ‘long and hard’ about changing career, and it’s because she wants to make a difference.
Lest we forget, last year Kim successfully campaigned to have 63-year-old Alice Marie Johnson released from jail, who was given a life sentence without parole for a non-violent offense.
And her degree could see her getting more unjustly imprisoned people released.
Apparently she began her apprenticeship with a law firm in San Francisco last year and plans to take her exams in 2022. She’ll need to do 18 hours of supervised study each week and will shadow two mentor lawyers.
She is clearly not a Hollywood airhead – and almost as an aside, has said that since starting her apprenticeship, she’s already scored 100 in a criminal law test, saying it was ‘super easy’ and that she could do the subject ‘in my sleep’.
It must be hard to be faced with being constantly reduced to your image and your past, but I think she is doing the best thing she can do: proving people wrong through her actions.
The Kardashians all have an outstanding work ethic, with Kim and Kylie both talking about how they were cut off from their parents’ money as teenagers.
They’re not just ‘rich girls’ who have used their parents’ riches and fame to get richer, but have all their achievements undermined for doing so.
Ironically, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, is one genuine rich kid who used his family wealth to profit himself, yet he, in my opinion, receives less backlash for this than the Kardashian/Jenner women.
The TV series, make up, clothes, apps, emojis, fitness and now law. I really believe these women could turn their mind to anything and conquer it.
Kris, Khloe, Kourtney, Kylie and Kendall, I doff my cap to you.
As for Kim: she’s been a savvy businesswoman and I believe she’ll be an equally savvy lawyer – and she’ll work her butt off to become one.
