Zoe Ball, 51, was reportedly confused when her son told her he was bisexual, while being very supportive at the same time. The radio presenter shares a son, Woody Cook, 20, with her ex-husband Fatboy Slim.
You can’t be. You like girls
Woody told Attitude magazine that his mother was unable to grasp the concept of bisexuality, accepting though she was.
He said that in the wake of “bi erasure”, he has encountered a lot of people who don’t think liking men and women at once is possible.
He said he has had to convince people otherwise, including peers and his own mum.
The star added that a lot of his friends have accused him of feigning bisexuality as it is “trendy”.
“I’ve had people say to me, ‘Oh, you’re just saying you’re bisexual because it’s trendy.’
“I’m, like, ‘No, my sexuality is not a bloody trend!’” he exclaimed.
He then continued, saying that his mum misunderstood the concept of bisexuality.
“My mum was, like, ‘You can’t be. You like girls,’” he said.
“I said, ‘Er… yes, that’s what bisexual is.’
“She said, ‘Isn’t bi just gay people before they know they’re gay? I don’t know any bisexuals.’
“I pointed out that some of our family friends were probably bisexual, which she didn’t really think about before.”
But despite the misunderstandings, Woody says he is very comfortable with who he is, and knowing what he wants.

“I like both, but in terms of the dynamic, I prefer being with a girl,” he added.
“I look for someone to cuddle me, and yes, slightly mother me.”
He also said that he has “kissed many guys” but just “hasn’t found the right one.”
Woody confirmed that he does currently have a girlfriend and is in love with her.
“This has led some of my mates to say, ‘Oh, so you’re straight then?’ ‘NO! I’m not straight!” he said.
The star admitted on a separate occasion, in an interview with The Mirror at the Attitude awards, that his parents are stern with him financially.
He said: “My parents have cut me off completely.
“They are like, ‘Do you want to be a trust fund child or do you want to work?’
“I want to work, so I am now self-sufficient.”
He added that he does not have a student loan at university, so sometimes struggles but nevertheless is getting through it.
