Strictly Come Dancing’s Shirley Ballas is reportedly hoping to walk down the aisle soon with her boyfriend Danny Taylor.
The couple – who have been dating for two years – appear set to become husband and wife after reportedly being spotted shopping for a particular piece of jewellery.
"They actually went ring shopping earlier this year, and after Shirley spotted one she liked, Danny went and bought it," an insider has revealed.
"Shirley is quite traditional, and definitely wants Danny to get down on one knee and do the proposing — after asking her mum for her blessing first. But Danny obviously wants it to be a surprise."
Now Shirley is waiting for her beau to propose to her the proper way, although The Sun's source claimed Danny doesn’t want to “feel pressurised” into asking and is looking for the right time.
Shirley met Danny, who is 13 years her junior, during rehearsals for a Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime production which they both starred in.
While the Strictly judge has been anticipating a proposal, she has not been too patient and urged her boyfriend to pop the question in a recent interview with Prima magazine.
“My relationship with Danny has changed my life,” she said.
“He’s very different to anyone I’ve been with before. First of all, he’s 6ft 1in, he’s the tallest man I’ve ever dated, and I love his jet black hair.
“He’s also very kind and very caring – he’s always there for me.
"I hope he’ll propose one day, but he’s never married and I think he’s a bit nervous about it, so we’ll see. Come on, Danny!”
Shirley has been married two time before; first to dancer Sammy Stanford when she was just 18 years old, before they separated five years later, and then in 1985 to former Latin ballroom star Corky Ballas – with whom she shares one son.
After divorcing again in 2007, Shirley has not been put off of marriage with her boyfriend Danny and their relationship seems stronger than ever.
The panelist currently lives with the 48-year-old and in October, they welcomed Shirley’s mother into their home too.
Shirley recently discussed how, five years into being on Strictly, she is opening up and “learning to be herself” – in her work and love life.
“I’m learning to be myself more on the show. That’s something my son Mark said to me: I need to drop the walls because people can spot it when you’re being guarded,” she told The Mirror. "They see right through it, so I might as well be the real me.”
