Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has defied her doctor’s orders and put on a brave face as she returned to the judging panel just four days after having her DD breast implants removed.

The TV judge, 59, went under the knife on Tuesday for the four-and-a-half hour operation to her breast reduced back to their natural A-cup, and it appeared she was still in the midst of recovery as she gingerly made her way down the stairs. 

Shirley’s appearance comes as the remaining nine couples took to the dancefloor after a week fraught with drama, as contestant Will Bayley was forced to withdraw from the competition, and pro Neil Jones was once again replaced by Kevin Clifton.

Shirley looked sensational as she headed towards the panel in preparation to judge the remaining nine couples.

The former Latin dance champion slowly made her way down the stairs dressed in a chic black suit with a matching bow blouse clearly still fragile following the surgery. 

Shirley’s appearance comes after she insisted she would be back in the studio in the aftermath of her surgery.

In an interview with The Sun on Friday, Shirley admitted she was told my doctor’s not to return to work, but she as determined to appear on the show.

She added: ‘I have stuck to all of Dr Waterhouse’s rules apart from one, which was: “Don’t go to work on Saturday!”‘

As well as having her implants taken out, Shirley has also undergone a breast lift and was discharged just 18 hours after having the surgery. 

Shirley said Strictly bosses fully supported her decision regardless of whether she decided to miss the live show for the surgery, and she said that Saturday will be tough, but she’s determined to get through it.

And as a regular wearer of busty gowns, Shirley said her stylist had already picked out some chic dinner suits and more comfortable outfits to suit her reduced cleavage. 

Shirley first spoke about her decision to have her breast implants removed in September, after suffering a cancer scare as well as learning that there was a history of the disease in her family.

Karim Zoual and Amy Dowden set the bar sky high from the start, as they danced a Quickstep to Mr Pinstripe Suit’ by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.

The pair earned huge praise from the panel for their performance, and soared to the top of the leaderboard with a score of 39 points out of 40.

Shirley praised: ‘Well absolutely a brilliant way to start the show your frame was exquisite your footwork was off the chart, no gapping, beautiful content.

‘I love the narrative of everything you do and the musicality you were absolutely in control that was one of the best quicksteps I’ve seen.’

Bruno added: ‘You’ve given us a Savile Row quickstep. Every detail every nuance was absolutely perfect. You brought us an incredible amount of skill a touch of innovation and timeless elegance Thank you.’

After earning the highest score last week, Michelle Visage and Giovanni Pernice once again delivered a solid performance.

The pair took to the flood to perform a Paso Doble to the Queen classic Another One Bites The Dust, with a gender neutral twist as Michelle ripped off her skirt halfway through the routine to be clad in a matador-esque outfit. 

Comments were predominantly positive throughout the show, and they earned a solid score of 34 points out of 40.

Bruno Tonioli said: ‘Well Michelle always delivers on content you threw everything was there everything you would want was there and it was clean, clear, precise, strong, menacing, she was looking at Giovanni she looked like a praying mantis about to strike!

‘One little thing though when you could’ve extended the shapes off the vertical I mean when you did these lines they looked a little bit small, but what a strong performance.’

Motsi Mabuse added: ‘I thought the position was so phenomenal. I felt the challenge between you two, obviously it’s a little bit awkward as it’s not a typical man and a woman. 

‘I loved how you really put it out where and just a whole different interpretation.’ 

Excellent: Michelle and Giovanni were praised for their routine, but Bruno noted that she could have extended her shapes
