Prince Charles Posts A Photo Montage To Honor Prince Philip

Following Prince Philip’s death, tributes from family members and fans worldwide flooded social media. On April 9, 2021, the royal family issued a statement, sharing the news that the Duke of Edinburgh had died at the age of 99.

“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.” Philip died at home in Windsor Castle following a stay at an area hospital. In February 2021, doctors treated Philip at King Edward VII Hospital after he had been feeling unwell (via BBC). During his stay, he underwent a medical procedure to address a pre-existing heart condition.

The royal family has been paying tribute to the Philip, including his grandson, Prince William. William’s Instagram post included a photo of Philip and his eldest son, Prince George, sitting on the back of a carriage together. He accompanied the image with a lengthy, sweet caption that honored Philip. “I feel lucky to have not just had his example to guide me, but his enduring presence well into my own adult life — both through good times and the hardest days,” he wrote. “I will always be grateful that my wife had so many years to get to know my grandfather and for the kindness he showed her.”

Prince Charles remembers his late father in the sweetest way

Shortly after his father’s death, Prince Charles took to his Clarence House Instagram page to share a sweet post remembering his late father, Prince Philip. The heartfelt tribute included a montage of photos from throughout Philip’s life, accompanied by a piano playing in the background — it’s enough to make anyone cry. The post included a few black and white shots mixed with more recent images. Of course, there were several photographs of the father/son duo together.

“My father, for I suppose the last 70 years, has given the most remarkable, devoted service to The Queen, to my family and to the country, but also to the whole of the Commonwealth,” he wrote. “My dear Papa was a very special person.”

Charles also listed few organizations that his father was passionate about, noting that they would take the week to look at those special causes. Unsurprisingly, fans flooded the photo with an overwhelming amount of support while many offered their condolences. “One of the greatest love stories and partnerships. RIP Prince Phillip x,” one Instagram user commented. Another thanked Charles for the incredible tribute. “Thank you for this wonderful video,” they wrote. “So many happy memories of this remarkable man.”

No long after his first post, Charles shared an additional Instagram post that included one throwback photo of him and his father. Now excuse us while we go grab some tissues.
