Prince Andrew ‘won’t leave’ his mansion even though plans are for ‘William to move in’

Prince Andrew is reportedly refusing to vacate the Royal Lodge, despite plans for Prince William to move into the property.

King Charles is said to have embarked on a shake-up of royal households in recent months, with the duke of York set to be moved from Royal Lodge – the 30-room, Grade II listed mansion, in Windsor Great Park, where he has lived with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson since 2003.

As part of the shake-up, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were evicted from Frogmore Cottage – the UK home they were gifted by the late Queen following their marriage in 2018.

And it's believed that the shake-up will continue, with plans being drawn up for Prince William to move in Royal Lodge.

However, these plans may meet with some problems, with friends of the disgraced Duke claiming that he's refusing to move out of the property.

Speaking to The Sun, one insider said: "This has been his family home for the last 20 years. Is it really sensible to kick him out?

"He’s concerned that now the coronation is over, the knives are out. But we’re dealing with human beings, not real estate."

The King is said to have originally given his brother until September to move out of the lodge, with this deadline having since been extended after it was deemed to be too soon.

A source told the publication: "If Charles wants Andrew to play ball and help the family, aren’t there better ways of going about it?

"Why not do the decent thing, sit down and talk? If they need the house for William, perhaps Andrew should be told. Perhaps William should invite his uncle for tea and explain?

"Or why doesn’t Charles invite his brother for a meeting and ask him if he’d leave Royal Lodge to help his nephew and the future of the monarchy. And agree a schedule acceptable to both sides?"

A third insider has told OK! that Prince Andrew won't be leaving Royal Lodge without a fight.

They told us: "Andrew is adamant that he is staying at Royal Lodge for the remainder of his lease.

“He will not move into Frogmore without a fight. Royal Lodge is his home and he will do everything in his power to remain in the property.

“Prince Andrew was given the keys to Frogmore quite recently and was expected to move in this summer.

Eugenie is currently staying there to help move out Harry and Meghan’s things while her dad tries to hold on to Royal Lodge. The handover date was expected in July or August but he’s not going anywhere.”

OK! has contacted representatives for Prince Andrew for comment.
