Piers Morgan slams ‘ungrateful’ Harry Potter cast for not supporting JK Rowling

Former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan has slammed the cast ofHarry Potterafter they appear to have failed to support the author of the hit wizarding saga,JK Rowling.

The cast recently met up to mark the 20th anniversary of the first film’s release for a HBO special, butJK was reported to not be involved.

The author has ruffled a few feathers regarding some of the things she’s said about the transgender community in recent years, sparking some of the Harry Potter cast members to speak out.

Chris Rankin, who starred as Percy Weasley in the films, described JK’s views towards the transgender community as “damaging”.

Back in 2019,JK defended a woman who lost her job for sharing anti-transgender tweets , and later appeared to mock a charity forusing the term “people who menstruate”.

Chris said of JK, as perMail Online: “I do a lot of work with charities that are LGBTQ+ focused.

“A lot of my family are members of the community. You can probably guess where my allegiances lie in that respect.”

He added: “When a trans person says they are male or female, that is what they are and that is how we should treat them. It is damaging to them to say otherwise.”

In the wake of Chris’ comments, Piers hit out at the cast, and branded them all as “twerps”.

He raged on Twitter: “Weasley by name, and nature. These Potter stars are such a bunch of ungrateful little twerps … more interested in pathetic virtue-signalling than supporting the right of the woman who made them all rich & famous to have an opinion most people agree with.”

While some believe that JK was “snubbed” from the reunion, the author is still discussed during the reunion episode where the likes of Hagrid actor Robbie Coltrane gushed over her work.

He said: “One of the many reasons I admire JK so much is that millions now read books who would never have lifted a book up in their lives, and you suddenly realise the power of writing.”

Bonnie Wright, who played Ginny Weasley in the films, added that people “fell in love” with JK’s writing.

It’s rumoured that it's during this segment that JK then makes an appearance herself after all, according toThe Independent.
