Piers Morgan, 56, dramatically left Good Morning Britain back in March following his comments about Meghan Markle. However, he’s now hit back at those urging him to “get a job” amid rumours he could join GB News.
Piers has been enjoying a break from London as he headed to Scotland on a golf trip.
He shared the news with his social media followers earlier this week as he posted some pictures from the course.
However, not everyone was thrilled by his holiday as he was told to “get a job” by some followers.
Sharing a picture of him at a local pub on Instagram, he told his fans about his trip.
He penned: “Fabulous day up in Scotland at the stunning @kingsbarnsgolflinks – great weather, beautiful course, amazing service by the caddies (thanks Sean!) & clubhouse staff, and cracking ‘banter’ with these two golfing charlatans.”
In response, one user wrote: “Mr. Morgan needs a job.”
Piers couldn’t resist firing back as he replied: “No he doesn’t.”
The outspoken presenter then further reiterated his point with a post on Twitter.
Sharing an article about the moment, he wrote: “Can’t think of anything I’d rather less do….”
Plenty of Piers’ 7.9 million followers weighed in with their own opinions about the jibe.
One wrote: “What’s the point of earning money if you can’t enjoy it? Everyone needs a break.”
Another added: “If I had your money I’d be doing the same enjoy.”
“Get your own TV show we want you back on TV we want somebody that speaks their mind and says how it is,” penned a third.
Despite Piers no longer appearing on GMB, there have been plenty of rumours of a television return.
Many are hopeful he could join the newly launched GB News.
The news network has already landed Andrew Neil as well as journalists like Colin Brzier and Kirsty Gallacher.
Piers himself addressed the rumours back in April after journalist Alex Webb discussed the possibility.
He said: “Maybe @piersmorgan would help GB News reach a massive audience, but his £2 million paycheque would take a huge chunk out of the station’s tightly managed budget.”
Piers then replied: “It would take a much bigger chunk than that…. (said ‘sources close to Morgan’).”
However, Andrew did say he’d be happy to have Piers join their news team.
He told This Morning: “Piers would be a huge asset to GB News and we’ll definitely look at that.
“We haven’t started any negotiations yet but we would certainly be delighted to talk to him if he’s up for it.”
