Maisie Smith ‘lands TV gig hosting Friends Like These reboot’ with Alison Hammond

Maisie Smith has reportedly landed a lucrative new television gig after quitting her longtime role on EastEnders last year.

While the 20 year old isn't quite done with her soap days, as a first look for her return cameo has been released, it appears she has been exploring other on-screen opportunities.

And according to The Sun Online, the actress will soon be starring alongside presenters Alison Hammond and Vernon Kay on the reboot of the show Friends Like These.

The gameshow was initially hosted by best friends Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly for two years on BBC before Ian Wright took over until 2003.

According to the publication, the reboot will see two teams of five friends compete against each other to win a holiday.

Alison and Vernon will reportedly host the show, while Maisie will captain one of the teams.

"Maisie has just filmed a pilot episode, and it's unclear if it'll air, but it's a great sign she's landing these kind of shows after Strictly and EastEnders," a source said.

It was added: "Everyone thought she was really great on the show – she's so naturally funny – so it'll be the first of many new jobs."

OK! has contacted a representative for Maisie and the BBC for further comment.

Meanwhile, last week EastEnders revealed a first look at Maisie's return to the BBC soap, just three months after she left Albert Square.

She is making a brief comeback to the show and stepping back into the shoes of her alter-ego Tiffany Butcher to be part of her co-star Zack Morris' exit storyline.

Maisie left Albert Square in December to start a new life in Germany with her brother, Liam Butcher (Alfie Deegan), leaving behind her estranged husband Keegan Butcher Baker (Zack Morris).

Tiffany's exit led fans to believe that things were over between her and her estranged husband, Keegan – but it seems there is more to come for the on-off couple in her one episode cameo.

A source previously told The Sun: "Bosses felt Tiffany had unfinished business with Keegan that needed a resolution before he left.

"So they decided to ask her back for one episode. Viewers will have to wait to see if they manage to fix their relationship or whether the bad blood that we've seen between them continues."
