Jake Cornish has seemingly slammed Love Island 's editing and hinted that his scandal with Liberty Poole was aired in a different light to how things unfolded.

The 24 year decided to quit the hit ITV2 show days before the final alongside 22 year old Liberty following the breakdown of their romance.

Many viewers blamed the water engineer for the way their relationship ended after scenes aired showing him not paying attention to blonde beauty Liberty, and only telling her he loved her after she confronted him.

Jake, who failed to attend the series' reunion show at the weekend, has now spoken out on the show's editing after a fan reached out.

During an Instagram Q&A, one of Jake's 436,000 followers asked: "Well unfair the way the public reacted to u on the show. What's your thoughts on it?"

Jake then cryptically responded: "If people knew what was said which wasn't aired I think people would believe differently."

Fans then got in touch to ask about the reality star's mental health, with one writing: "Not a question, but I hope your okay."

Jake replied: "So many people have asked this," alongside a red love heart emoji.

"I'm good thanks, been unwell for the last week but starting to feel much better today."

He also answered more questions about his time in the Spanish villa, with one fan asking: "What do you miss the most about leaving the villa?"

Failing to mention his ex-girlfriend Liberty, he said: "I miss all the amazing people in there and the sun definitely."

Marketing student Liberty admitted there was no way back for the doomed couple as she took to the Love Island reunion show solo on Sunday night.

Liberty insisted that she is "really good" and just "focusing on herself", adding: "I think I definitely did the right thing."

Asked by host Laura Whitmore if they would meet again as friends, Liberty continued: "Well obviously we share the same friends and have similar friendship groups, obviously you make friends from being on Love Island. So I will probably see him around.

"Happy to be mutual, civil with him but I think as far as love goes… that's the end of our journey."
