Loose Women cancelled today in TV schedule shake-up after Queen’s death

ITV's popular daytime show Loose Women has been cancelled today in a TV schedule shake-up after the Queen’s death.

This is to ensure the maximum coverage of the many significant events in the royal calendar since the death of the monarch, aged 96, on Thursday, 8 September.

Today, Good Morning Britain aired as usual from 6am to 9am, followed by Lorraine at 9am.

This Morning also aired at its usual time of 10am but will finish at an earlier time of 12pm to make way for an extended ITV News Special which will cover The King’s Tour – Northern Ireland – meaning Loose Women's usual slot at 12.30pm will not go ahead.

Loose Women and Lorraine were axed from Monday's TV schedule, after ITV announced that ITV News specials would take their places.

The lunchtime news will then take place at 1.30pm with live coverage of Queen Elizabeth II – Return To The Palace scheduled for 4pm.

King Charles, 73, and Camilla, 75, touched down at Belfast City Airport at Tuesday lunchtime, continuing the new monarch's tour of the UK since he ascended the throne following the death of Queen Elizabeth ll on Thursday, 8 September.

After travelling from the airport to Hillsborough Castle, the King and Queen Consort got out of their vehicle to greet jubilant crowds – some of whom had been there since dawn.

In one touching moment, the King stopped to stroke a corgi that was lifted up by its owner to meet him.

No doubt it was a touching and memorable moment for the new King, as the Queen was known to own and adore corgis throughout her life.

The Queen's coffin will be flown back to London today, accompanied by The Princess Royal, 72, and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.

Once it arrives in London, it will rest overnight in the Bow Room at Buckingham Palace before being transferred to Westminster Hall where the Queen will lie-in-state from Wednesday 13 September to Monday 19 September, before her funeral takes place at 11.30am at Westminster Abbey on Monday.

This week, OK! celebrates the life of Her Majesty the Queen with a commemorative special in honour of Britain’s longest reigning monarch. Be sure to pick up your copy.
