Kym Marsh has exclusively announced her engagement to partner Scott Ratcliff after a romantic birthday proposal this weekend.
The former Coronation Street star, 44, is "over the moon" after Scott popped the big question as they celebrated her birthday.
BBC1 Morning Live presenter Kym exclusively told OK! of her exciting news: "I'm absolutely over the moon – I can't believe it.
"It's been the best birthday surprise ever. I can't stop smiling!"
Kym was first introduced to Scott by mutual pal Anthony Cotton and started dating in 2018. Soon into their romance, Kym revealed to OK! that she felt the pair were meant to be together.
"I really believe that we're made for each other. We don’t argue, we’re similar, we laugh at the same things. We’re used to time apart but despite that we’re as close as we are,” she said.
With Scott serving in the army, the couple's romance has been blighted by periods of long distance. He first returned back to Afghanistan in 2019.
Speaking to OK! at the time, Kym said: "I’ve got him for a little while yet, but you can’t help but think about it… It’s just another test in our relationship and I think we’re strong enough to get through it.”
Opening up on her relationship with Scott, Kym previously defended their age gap, saying she “hates” that Scott is often referred to as her “toy boy”.
“Scott is 32 and I'm almost 44, I hate when people describe him as my 'toy boy', as I think it's patronising to him! Men are often with much younger women and no one bats an eyelid, but when it's the reverse, people seem to judge.
"I'm in the best relationship of my life and Scott and I have so much in common. Age is just a number,” she hit back.
Kym has also opened up on her journey to finding love after past romances, saying she's happier than ever.
“Over the years, I’ve been open about my journey to finding love," the TV star explained.
"There has been some heartbreak and like everyone, I’ve made mistakes in my love life, but in 2018 I met Scott and I’ve been happily coupled up ever since,” she explained.
“I’ve learnt that I don’t have to put everything about my relationship out there and we’ve been able to enjoy privacy in our relationship over the years.”
