Jay-Z announced Thursday that a rare bottle of D’usse Cognac will be auctioned off at Sotheby’s on March 13 to raise funds for charity.
The one-of-a-kind Bottle No. 1 of the “1969 Anniversaire Limited Edition Grande Champagne Cognac” is estimated to fetch between $25,000 and $75,000.
The hip-hop star will donate the amount to the Shawn Carter Foundation, a charity launched by him.
“The whole process behind the 1969 Anniversaire collection reminded me why I got involved in the spirits industry in the first place—to create something that will stand the test of time,” Jay-Z said in a statement.
The 750 ml bottle of cognac, made from a single barrel aged at the famed Château de Cognac, has a 24-karat gold foil around its neck. The bottle, featuring an engraved signature from Jay-Z, will go on display at Sotheby’s in New York beginning March 5.
