Jamie Laing told Sophie Habboo he’d ‘divorce her after a year’ in wedding row

Jamie Laing and Sophie Habboo have opened up about a huge pre-wedding row, which ended with Jamie saying he would divorce Sophie after one year of marriage.

The former Made In Chelsea stars, who recently tied the knot for the second time in a lavish ceremony in Spain, teased the upcoming podcast NearlyWeds episode on their Instagram page, where they joked: "Jamie’s plan to divorce Sophie after a year?!!"

In the short clip, the newlyweds discussed the row as Sophie explained: "Once he said during an argument, 'urgh I've got to stay married to you for at least a year'. I was like, f**k you!"

Jamie replied: "Yeah that's true. If it was before a year, everyone would be like well that was short. But a year, then you're like that's alright."

Opening up about how life has changed since they first tied the knot, in a legal ceremony at Chelsea Old Town Hall, Sophie and Jamie shared that their personalities have switched in a way, with Sophie becoming the calm one and Jamie the "nervous Nancy."

Discussing the change, Sophie quipped: "Because you're so upset you've married me. You're like f**k I'm locked in. I'm going to slowly put Candy Kittens in my name, so you're locked in forever baby! Joking, everyone's going to think I'm a gold digger."

Jamie and Sophie held an intimate wedding in London on 14 April, but invited hundreds of people to their much larger Spanish bash, which took place over the weekend.

There were 200 friends and family in attendance at the ceremony, including Jamie's long-time pal Spencer Matthews and the couple's MIC co-stars including Sam Thompson, Millie Mackintosh and Josh Patterson.

For the first ceremony, Sophie wore a short £3.8k Vivienne Westwood dress, which she had to be cut out of after the zip broke ahead of the nuptials.

For the Spanish ceremony, Sophie opted for a more traditional bridal gown as she commissioned a bespoke wedding dress from Emma Beaumont.

Designer Emma Beaumont designs custom wedding dresses for brides around the world, which she makes by hand at her atelier. On her website, she boasts that her dresses are designed to “embody the very essence of each individual bride.”

Sophie, who underwent extensive beauty prep ahead of her big day, paired her dress with a long veil that trailed behind her as she walked up the aisle.
