Kevin Clifton, 38, admitted who he’s backing to win this years Strictly Come Dancing, following the release the star-studded line up earlier this month. The former BBC One show dancer revealed BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker has his vote, and pointed out that his opinion is not biased because he no longer works for the broadcaster.
I’m allowed to because I don’t work for the BBC anymore!
It comes after Kevin chatted about this year’s celebrity contestants who are putting their best foot forward in a bid to win the glitterball trophy.
Dan has been rumoured to do the show for a fair few years but until now he’s dismissed the claims.
It came as a shock to fans when his name was announced, and they were more than excited to see how the dad-of-three fairs on the dance floor.
Talking about the BBC star, Kevin said: “I feel like I’m sort of going to be a bit team Dan from the start,” he shrugged, before quickly noting he’s allowed to have him as a favourite.
“And I’m allowed to because I don’t work for the BBC anymore!” he chuckled.
“So, I’m allowed and I feel like I’m going to be team Dan because he’s a nice bloke.”
Kevin also went on to reveal that in his surprise birthday message for his girlfriend Stacey Dooley, he got a collection of famous faces together to send sweet messages to the journalist to wish her a great day.
Dan was among those who sent in a “lovely” video message, for the surprise and Kevin couldn’t have been more grateful.
“That was really nice of him,” he told listeners.
Kevin and Stacey met on Strictly when she was a contestant in 2018, which they won.
They struck up a relationship after the programme ended and the rest is history.
Recently, the performer took to Instagram to share his “heartbreak” after Stacey posted a sweet picture in tribute to her beau.
The BBC journalist posted a glamorous snap of her personalised earrings which she donned in honour of her dancer boyfriend as he took to the stage to perform in the West End.
Wearing her signature fiery locks in a chic low bun, the star styled her fringe over her forehead in view of her 990,000 followers.
Looking pensive, Stacey leaned on her hand and covered her face as she showed off her gold ear jewellery.
The star flaunted her multiple piercings, but the one piece that really stood out was a gold, letter ‘K’ pendant that dangled from her ear.
Upon seeing his girlfriend’s story, Kevin reposted it for his 357,000 followers to see, with the addition of a broken heart emoji.
Kevin is currently appearing in West End musical Singin’ in the Rain at the Sadler’s Wells theatre in London.
Two weeks ago the former Strictly star revealed that his girlfriend “finally” made it to the theatre to watch him perform.
Posting a sweet snap of them sitting on a sofa together, Kevin beamed with pride as he posted a series of snaps with Stacey.
“Finally @sjdooley came to see Singin’ In The Rain,” he wrote alongside a heart emoji.
