Gogglebox star Paige Deville says she’s ‘got her life back’ after quitting show

Former Gogglebox star Paige Deville has said she has “never been so happy” and has “got her life back” after quitting the hit Channel 4 show.

Paige made the announcement that she had left the show on Twitter last month citing the long hours and lack of “aftercare” by show bosses as some of the reasons for her departure.

The 25-year-old has since opened up to Birmingham Live about her decision and said she’s in a “good place” after stepping back from Gogglebox.

She revealed: "I really am in a good place at the moment. I am really happy. I had two years at Gogglebox and it was fun to begin with."

"But it was long hours and hard work and not as glamorous as it may appear. I was running my own recruitment business then working a nine hour shift late into the night for Gogglebox where I sometimes finished filming at 12.30am.

"My life wasn't my own. I had to be very careful on social media as representatives at Gogglebox would monitor it. I would be hassled when I went shopping. Now I feel I have got my life back."

Paige also disclosed to the outlet that the real reason she left the show was after a fall out with her co-star and mother, Sally Hayward.

Paige said: “There have been problems within the family and my mum was given an ultimatum. The decision means I have nothing to do with her now. I think the decision is irreversible.

"It is very sad but that's life unfortunately.” The duo were on Gogglebox for two years, before they decided to leave the show.

In a statement to her 10k followers on Twitter, Paige said: "I have made the decision to walk away from Gogglebox."

"It’s been an experience but one I cannot continue with due to long hours of filming, restrictiveness, control of our actions and opinions & zero aftercare support but hey who cares about ex cast, their NTA winners."

In response to leaving the show, Paige admitted that she had been sent death threats by trolls and been terrified by this social media abuse.

Taking to her own social accounts, the TV personality asked that people “Be kind” in their response to her exiting the show, as she has “never been so happy and free.”

Paige tweeted: “These are just a few things I felt needed to be aired about REAL issues being on a reality show.

"I have never been so happy and free since deciding to leave & that chapter is now closed but felt I have had to justify myself as people are still commenting. BE KIND, always xx”

Paige is now focussing on her recruiting firm, Palm Recruitment based in Staffordshire where she finds jobs for individuals in a variety of sectors including HR, spas and sales.
