Game of Thrones star Darren Kent dead at age 36

Actor Darren Kent has passed away at the age of 36.

Darren, who appeared Goatherd from Slavers Bay in the HBO hit series Game of Thrones, passed last week following a lengthy health battle.

During his life, Darren battled and overcame osteoporosis, arthritis and an extremely rare skin disorder. No cause of death has yet been announced.

His death was announced by his agency, Carey Dodd Associates, who shared the sad news on Twitter, writing: "It is with deep sadness we have to tell you that our dear friend and client Darren Kent passed away peacefully on Friday. His parents and best friend by his side.

"Our thoughts and love are with his family in this difficult time. RIP my friend [heart emoji]."

Tributes have begun pouring in after the news of his passing spread on social media, with fellow actor Lee Mead writing: "Darren was an amazing human being and so special. Always giving of his time to people and always so positive. A fine actor too and he achieved so much as well. Such heartbreaking news."

And Mushroom Theatre Company founder Penni Bubb, who gave Darren his acting break, paid tribute to him as she told The Southend Echo: “Darren was a very supportive, generous and lovely man.

“He thoroughly enjoyed spending his time with us and performing for our students – especially when he used to sing for them!

"We are going to miss our much-loved patron so much, and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this terribly sad time."

The Mushroom Theatre's Twitter account also paid tribute to the late actor, with a tweet which read: "So very very sad to hear about the passing of our patron @darrenpaulkent [heartbroken emoji]

"Our thoughts are with his family & friends at this difficult time."

Screenwriter Ben Trebilcook, also paid tribute to the late actor, who had previously directed one of his own films. He wrote: "Love and thoughts to the friends and family of our talented, caring soul of a friend, Darren Kent, who sadly passed away on Friday.

"Darren, an Essex writer, actor and director, directed our award winning short You Know Me. A true character who was Always creating and forever upbeat and encouraging, Darren will be sorely missed."

Darren appeared in a number of films and TV shows, including EastEnders, Snow White and the Huntsman, more Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves.

At the time of his death, Darren was working on six upcoming short films, four of which are thought to have been completed, with one in post-production, and the other having not yet entered into production.
