EXCLUSIVE: Vicky Pattison discusses body confidence after ‘weaponising exercise’

Vicky Pattison has opened up on her body confidence after explaining that women are trained to hate what they see in the mirror.

The 33 year old, who recently spoke out on her teenage beauty fails and the power of make up, said she's the "most content" she's been with her self-image in an exclusive interview with OK! Online about her Pour Moi edit.

Former Geordie Shore star Vicky argued that women are taught from a young age to not be satisfied with their own bodies and end up wishing they could change something.

"I'm a normal girl, aren't I? I think we're trained from such a young age to hate what we see in the mirror, not feel body-confident and just want something that we don't have," she told us.

While the TV personality admits that there's been a great deal of progress into reversing this kind of thought process, it's still an area she's trying to improve on within herself.

She said: "I think it's really sad and I definitely think there's such progression and improvement in that area. But old habits die hard, don't they?

"I think I'm probably the most content with my body than I have been in years.

"I train when I can, I eat well when I can, but I don't weaponise exercise. I don't beat myself up if I've enjoyed a cheeseboard and a bottle of wine with it with Ercan.

"I definitely don't spend hours in the gym if I've had a takeaway at the weekend.

"I just try and accept that life is for living and all the things I love doing, going to see my friends, travelling, going to the cinema – it just wouldn't be the same if I was beating myself up over every calorie consumed.

"So, I'm a lot more relaxed with myself and my body than I have ever been before."

Vicky, who recently spoke out about the "painful" struggles she's gone through after quitting contraception, went on to explain that while she's come a long way, she still occasionally finds herself wishing she could change parts of her body.

She told OK!: "I think the road to being completely content with yourself is definitely a journey rather than just a destination you arrive at and you stay there.

"I'd say I'm happier than I've ever been but that's not to say I don't look in the mirror sometimes and think, 'Oh god I wish I had this or I wish that was a bit longer or I wish that was a bit smaller,' it's how we're trained to think unfortunately."

"So un-training yourself to think that is a bit difficult, but I'm getting there," she added.
